This week we had a chat with Toronto-based hip-hop artist, Price. See Price’s BTA profile HERE.
Please introduce yourself.
What’s going, I’m Price. I’m from Toronto Canada.
I’m a traveler, I don’t like to be in one city too long, my music represents the journey I’m on.
How did you get interested in hip-hop?
Hip-hop represented a way of life for me growing up, and still is in many ways. I’ve always been a bohemian at heart and hip hop is not known for following rules or society norms.
Can you tell us little about your creative process?
When I create a song I start with the title. If gives me a clear direction on what emotion I want to evoke through the record
Any tips for aspiring rap artists?
Build a team. There is power in numbers always
What was the subject of the first rap you ever wrote?
I can’t remember that far back. But as far I can remember the song was called Revolution.
The subject matter had to with being a new unique voice in music.
What is the best thing about rap music, as a genre?
It doesn’t look down at controversy as much as other genres.
If you could choose, which artist would you like to see live? Dead or alive.
Alive would be an artist name k- os. He’s from Toronto. I grew up listening to him when I was young.
Tell us about your regular hang out? Have you ever performed show there?
I’m glad to say I’m not a regular anywhere. I spend most of my time traveling so I chill where I can on the road. The more random the better.
My favorite venue in the last few years has been Tavastia in Helsinki. I’ve checked out a lot of events there. Haven’t performed there yet but I’m looking to change that!
Thanks for the interview Price! Until next week everybody!
