This week we interviewed indie rock band Fresh Tides. Enjoy!
Please introduce yourselves.
We’re Fresh Tides from Finland, we play indie rock spiced with sunset vibes.
What got you interested in indie rock?
The scene was intoxicating and the music just spoke to us. We all had pretty similar tastes in music.
How did you end up playing together and how did you come up with the band name?
Our lives collided when our singer moved to the same town where the other guys from the band lived. It was destiny, man. We didn’t feel the need to have a name that meant something cryptic or had a massive meaning. It just sounded cool and easy to pronounce in almost every language. Nothing too special.
Tell us about your creative process.
It’s a mixture of mystic vibes, funk and friendship. Ideas are had at around 3 am. (Our singer writes best when he’s sleep deprived.) Then the ideas are recorded on to any available recording device and then presented to the rest of the band the next week.
What is the best thing about being in indie band?
Having all creative freedom.
The most memorable show you performed?
The first time we had a show where the crowd was packed and people sang along to the songs. That feeling was incredible.
If you could choose, which artist would you like to see live? Dead or alive.
A: Daft Punk
K: Red Hot Chili Peppers in 1991
V: Johnny Cash
Tell us about your regular hang out? Have you ever had a gig there?
Yeah, we’ve played there a couple of times. It’s called RUMA where they vibe and atmosphere is euphoric and the floor is sticky, just the way we like it.
Future projects we should know about?
Well we’re of course gonna go record some new tunes at the very start of 2017. Also, planning a spring tour around Finland.
Thanks for the interview guys! See you next week.
